Ante una tragedia todos nos unimos y aportamos en lo que podemos. Países, organizaciones, personas de todo el mundo, raza, clases y religiones olvidan sus diferencias y ayudan a Haití a superar esta tragedia, diseñadores incluidos. Con un país devastado, Haití tiene la oportunidad de ser reconstruido desde cero, lo que abre el foro a opciones como construcciones verdes y fuentes de energía alterna a ser implementadas, con lo más importante que es la gente de Haití en mente. El International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid) lanzo una plataforma abierta (en Facebook) para que todos los diseñadores de todo el mundo aportemos soluciones para Haití y su reconstrucción.

Dentro del foro de Facebook (que pueden accesar aquí) ya se ven varias organizaciones, diseñadores individuales y escuelas haciendo aportaciones muy interesantes y realmente factibles. Lo importante aquí es el backup de Icsid como organización de diseño que se va a asegurar que este proyecto sea escuchado y tenga impacto en la reconstrucción del país ya es consultor para la UNESCO, UNIDO, ISO y WIPO y tiene alrededor de 150,000 miembros en todo el mundo.

“Uniting Designers in Disaster is a call to designers from all disciplines to unite in an open dialogue with international relief organisations to assess potential design-effective rehabilitation projects.

In support of the UN’s efforts to help the Haitian people overcome challenges in relation to the country’s reconstruction plans, designers, academics and design students, as well as experienced developmental workers are encouraged to join the discussion.

This initiative has been launched with the support of Icsid, the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design. This global not-for-profit organisation promotes better design around the world and strives to create a world where design enhances our social, cultural, economic and environmental quality of life.

The immediate objective of this open forum is to gain a better understanding of the relief efforts needed in order to create design-led solutions that impact Haiti’s quality of life. Information about initiatives where designers may contribute their design and problem solving skills will subsequently facilitate relief efforts, such as those currently being prepared by the UN, to help Haiti meet stabilisation and reconstruction objectives. “
